ARM Introduces MultiTrace Debug Solution

CAMBRIDGE, U.K. and SAN JOSE, Calif.----Sept. 26, 2000--ARM ((LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)), the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, Tuesday introduced the MultiTrace(TM) trace port analyzer, a new component in ARM's RealView(TM) debug solution for deeply embedded processor cores.

With the addition of this new debug element, ARM is able to provide developers with complete system-on-chip (SoC) development support for ARM® core-based systems, providing a consistent and comprehensive debug solution that significantly reduces the time and costs typically associated with the use of multiple development tools and user interfaces.

ARM's RealView debug solution includes three key technology suites: RealTrace(TM), RealMonitor(TM) and RealControl(TM). The MultiTrace analyzer is the external collection unit for ARM's RealTrace suite, passively collecting information from ARM Powered(TM) SoC solutions containing an Embedded Trace Macrocell (ETM). The ETM monitors the ARM instruction and data busses at full core speeds, using the MultiTrace analyzer to buffer the collected information before transmitting to the Trace Debug Tools, where the traced information is displayed to the user.

``As a leader in the embedded microprocessor industry, ARM continues to provide developers with everything they need to efficiently and effectively develop ARM Powered applications, from operating systems and application software to design support and development tools,'' said John Sharp, Development Systems product manager for ARM. ``The introduction of the MultiTrace analyzer completes the RealTrace element of our RealView debug solution and will provide the 15+ partners having already licensed our ETM technology with the real-time debug support they need to get their ARM core-based products to market as quickly as possible.''

ARM's MultiTrace unit will be available from the end of November. Pricing is $4,500 per development seat. For more information on the MultiTrace unit or the complete RealView debug solution, visit www.arm.com.
